Several years on the island had given Watts a general idea of certain rhythms - which is why his and Steven's somewhat impulsive trip to Japan had concluded last night, in anticipation of certain little visitors this morning, or just attending their usual Saturday services at their synagogue if no such visitors showed.

Luckily for them, it ended up being Option A.

"All right," Watts said, once everyone- including Raphael, of course- was assembled in the kitchen. "We are now taking votes for what to have for breakfast."

Stark had gone to bed alone and woken up alone after spending all of last week alone. Now he was at the Perk alone.

All of this was to be expected.

His extremely sugary coffee order with extra whipped cream was also entirely expected. Stark had the coffee and he had a breakfast sandwich even though it was afternoon and he was just sitting, glad to be feeling less restless than he had been for the whole week.

It was shaping up to be a quiet, peaceful sort of day.

[the coffee shop is, of course, open to all and sundry]

Well, folks. It seems things are back to normal...ish. Don't be too surprised if you have a guest showing up sometime today or tomorrow. It's one of those weekends, folks.

Sorry, Steve.

But let's get this going so I can go back to helping out my husband, shall we?

At the school, Thor wisely cancelled the last Combat 101 class. Cupcakes of the World was also cancelled with Stark providing Gatorade and cupcakes to anyone who showed up. Very kind of him. Oh, and we watched a movie for our last class of Overcoming Obstacles.

The dance was remarkably quiet, but then again, I'm sure people were still occupied by the pollen. The squirrels did include that Arden and Cal had a great time of it at least. Over at Blackstone, Henry kept himself busy with forging horseshoes. I mean. It certainly is manual labor to ignore other things. I'll give him that much! Barnes had an evening in with what I'm assuming is quiet contemplation. Or brooding. The squirrels say brooding.

And with all that, I'm out of here. Try to have a good weekend, folks!

As soon as Octavia woke up, just a little too early for a Saturday morning, she knew the pollen was gone again. Nothing buzzed incessantly under her skin, and her partners looked only the usual amount of attractive to her. (Not that 'the usual' wasn't in itself a considerable amount, but, you know.) Everything seemed... calm.

Except for her ability to get back to sleep.

So Octavia got up, quietly. She got the coffee machine running in the galley, and then grabbed one of their yoga mats to take up on deck with her. But then she got up there, and found out she wasn't alone. Someone else was just crossing the gangplank. A teenager, dark hair, even darker clothes.

Octavia's heart skipped a beat. She stopped in her tracks.

"Ha yun, nomon," Rory said, with a crooked smile, a hint of teasing in it. "You look like you've seen a ghost."

Maybe it felt like it, too. The long summer last year had been hard, and even though at the end of it, the Rory that had been around but convinced she was the daughter of the detective and a deadbeat Lucifer had reverted back into their Rory, the memories of her rejection of all of them (and not even recognizing Octavia and Duke) had weighed heavy on Octavia's mind. Still did. You couldn't always rationalize your way out of a wound like that.

But maybe you could overwrite some of it with a weekend.

Octavia shuddered, then launched herself at the girl, grabbing her in the tightest hug possible. Rory made the requisite gently affronted teenage noises about her being ridiculous, but still hugged her back just as tight.

It was, after all, nice to be loved. Even by the weird young versions of your parents.

As was happening all across the island, Liliana was quite happily asleep in bed, still tangled up with Ignis and sleeping the sleep of the pleasantly exhausted. She had no plans to leave the bed until noon at the earliest, and Ignis would have to talk fast if he expected to be let up much before then, either.

And if anybody came trying to drag him out for an early morning run, she was going to blight first, ask questions never.

One could forgive her for not realizing what today would be. Last year, the island had been kind and hadn't sent them any surprises as they were recovering from their battle with Emrakul and Liliana had decided to take that as a sign that it had been a one-time fluke that the universe had hastily made sure would never happen again.

You know what she didn't need? A shouted, "RISE AND SHIIIIIIIIII~IIIIIIIIINE!" from the other side of the bedroom door. You know what she was gonna get?

Just guess.

Vi and Steph had been planning on going to the dance last night, but then they'd gotten dressed for the dance last night, and, well, it's not like they didn't have a tendency to get distracted even when they weren't completely and utterly doused in pollen.

So, no, they hadn't made it to the dance last night. They hadn't even made it to the front door.

They had, however, eventually made it to the bed, where Vi now snuggled in closer to Steph, eyes still firmly closed.

So, that had been a good week.

Rey could tell immediately upon waking up that the pollen was gone. That halfway buzzing feeling was gone, and she was relieved but also a little sorry about it, even if they didn't exactly need it.

And despite all the closeness this week, she snuggled a little closer to Adrian, because even if she was awake and actually a little hungry, she didn't want to be apart yet. Sure, there were things that she'd needed to do that had gone wholly ignored and she should get to them, but it wasn't like real life was going anywhere.

She'd also historically not had a reason to automatically remember what this weekend tended to be, but it should register in a bit.

Tony and Steve had been distracted this week--go figure--and Friday snuck up on them. Which meant there was a movie set up for the class.

"We meant to come up with a final exam for you all, but... things came up," Tony said, scratching his nose.

Steve was a professional and would not snicker inappropriately at that, but he did shoot Tony a "I see what you did there" look. "So we found a movie that you can enjoy instead of having to focus on anything in particular."

"And then get ready for the dance tonight," Tony added, very much not looking at his husband for professional reasons.

Stark was not having class today. He wasn't that foolish. But he had stopped by the classroom and left some classic yellow cake and chocolate frosting cupcakes for anyone that might come by. He also brought water. And blue Gatorade.

And he was hanging around for a bit in case of... who knows what. It wasn't like he had better things to do this morning.

[he'll be around for talking or you can just grab some refreshments and go. Whatever you like. OCD free]

By Friday, Bucky had unavoidably caught on to what the island was up to. Some previous iterations of this pollen thing had brought with them surreal, feverish dreams of redheads with their faces forever just slightly out of view, but this time --

Well, the redhead had gotten plenty specific.

As had the rest of the details of the dreams.

Guess it showed how much more human he felt, these days? More in tune with his body, with urges that had at one point seemed as lost to time as the rest of him. A faint silver lining.

But the pollen also meant that whatever plans he'd had for seeking Jesse out - not that he'd had many, as evidenced by how he hadn't beelined right to her when he'd returned from Wakanda earlier in the week - were now completely out of the question. She'd made him uncomfortable, the last time they'd talked, but that didn't mean he wanted to make her uncomfortable back. And the pollen, it just felt like it would do exactly that.

So he was just... here.

Hunkered down in the apartment. Out of what he would've called a need for distraction, he'd broken out the record player that a much, much younger version of him had made great use of a long, long time ago when he'd just been a candy store clerk and everything to come had been just a distant, unknowable future. He'd put a record on, and he was on the couch, sipping a glass of whisky that didn't do anything more than his regular beer would have, and yet he'd had the urge to reach for it tonight.

Maybe none of these urges were actually being fueled by a yearning for distraction. Bucky wasn't looking at them too closely, either way. He was humming faintly along to Moonlight Serenade.

And he was feeling like a fool.

Henry did not have any sort of itching, aching, or-- was there another -ing word in that family? Nevermind. He'd look it up later.

Clang.

No, he had none of that. He was just... busy.

Clang.

Making horseshoes.

Clang.

For days now.

Clang.

With his shirt off, but only because the forge was hot, all right?

Did Pebbles need all of those horseshoes? Probably not. But perhaps she might, in the future! Perhaps someone else might come in looking to shoe their horse. Who knew?

Thor was not about to give his students an opportunity to get sweaty and have physical contact with one another, so a message had been sent around informing them that their final had been cancelled due to unavoidable circumstances and they would be judged based upon their performance in the class overall.

But surely they had already been aware that Thor was judging them.

The message had ended with a perhaps overly optimistic, Please behave responsibly.

No, I don't blame anyone this week from hiding from your prying eyes. It's a time that requires privacy.

*more chittering*

No, I'm not going to mention what normally comes next. Let's get to the notes. In classes, Don made us draw a Norse god family tree by memory, which was mean, Liliana has been here long enough to teach everything last week and cancel this week, and Cara and Jane left their class with a movie about a welder? A dancing welder?

*chittering*

Oh. There was water. Leroy watched. Caleb and Belle flirted in the library, and in town Thor probably didn't tie anyone to a bedpost and that made things strange by saying that out loud.

Anything else that you did yesterday remains unreported, and you're welcome.

Any plans for a spring-ish theme for this dance had been scrapped at the beginning of the week. Instead, the community center was draped in winter decorations - cool blue and silver draperies, glittery snowflakes hanging from the ceiling, cardboard standups of snowmen, tinsel on every flat surface - all giving a general sense to stay calm and chill.

It probably wouldn't work, but at least there was an attempt.

Belle was in a more revealing dress than the library usually rated. But you never knew who might wander in. She might need to impress someone!

Perhaps someone mysterious!
Or someone from her past!
Or a disguised god!
Or a pirate captain with a heart of gold!

Or she might be alone with her novels and that would be fine, really.

She was meant to be shelving romance novels. She was mostly making a stack of books she wanted to read later. There were so many and she was learning so many things while she read the week away. Alone.

But again, anyone could walk through the doors at any moment! Perhaps the librarian might even come out of his office and...

And Belle suddenly needed some water.

But there was still a movie all queued up for anyone who decided to show up this week.

Hopefully it wouldn't awaken anything in any of you.

See? This was why Liliana had shoved everything in last week. Pollen had hit her spring classes reliably every semester, there was no way it would magically bypass it this year.

Messages were sent to her class informing them not to bother coming in today, because she certainly wouldn't be.

It paid to plan ahead! And she would be absolutely insufferable about this later, when she was less, ahem, distracted.

"It's our final class together, which means you're due some kind of final exam." Don had forgotten to prepare one. Look, he had been...distracted. And not just by what was clearly a B on the Canes' jerseys, although also by that. "Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to draw the best family tree of the Norse gods you can, from memory," Don told his students. Sometimes it was not hard to believe that he would go evil, especially making them do this this week. "You have one hour. Begin."

So we all know exactly what kind of week is is by now, so let's just get on with this.

Up at the School, The Long Con, Creative Writing, and Glitter all had their finals which involved, a movie, being cancelled in favour of passing everyone, and cleaning up glitter. One of those is not like the others. Meanwhile, Arden was in the Library against her better judgement, and got a visit from Belle and messages from Cal.

No notes from the Dorms, while in Town, Stark was in the Park, alone, three guesses what Steve and Tony were doing in Stark Towerlet, and Octavia was at the Devil's Nest considering her current life choices.

*more, even more violent, sneezing*
